Morphogenesis Table

A whimsical dive into furniture design — capturing optical patterns directly within the piece. Like tree roots, organically inspired and generated, the legs project an illuminated translation of themselves onto the table surface from below.
Artist proof designed for OP ART/GLASS at the Imagine Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida, January 2021; the first edition is available for commission.
The legs are printed glass, grown from organically generated root forms; light entering from below is refracted through the coiled walls and lands on the tabletop as a drawn translation of the structure that carries it.
The machine
Printed on G3DP2 — the molten-glass platform Lios carried forward from the MIT research machines and ran in the studio.
